You have something you’ve been meaning to do for ages.

Get in shape. Learn that new skill. Find a job that pays better, that excites you. Start that business or blog or newsletter.

Some of you have been talking about your big plans for so long that the words feel stale even in your own mouth. The people around you smile and nod, but deep down they’ve already written you off. It’s never going to happen.

We’ve all, I think, been there.

I spent years with an ever-growing list of pending accomplishments, the task of finishing them all growing more daunting by the day. I’d start working on one and then leave it off and tackle another.

In the past year and half, however, I started knocking them down one after another, from coding projects to changing jobs to building a profitable side hustle to starting content creation. The unlock came observing how differently I approached my goals from the most effective people my age that I knew.

Here’s the advice I wish I could give myself 5 years ago:
